Hey Holly? That's what I have so far. I thought about the sew and cut thing but I'm not overly fond of trying it on this sweater. I may have to dig out some of my finishing techniques books. I don't know what I was thinking. At least it's not like I would have to rip half the sweater.

What is wrong with making it a bit longer than you initially intended and creating a boat neck?
then you can just bind off the shoulders together and knit a facing to the neck opening which you would sew to the inside.
It would have the advantage of keeping all that wonderful, gorgeous, beautiful colorwork.
(can you tell I am jelous here and can not spell either?)

Thanks Holly. That's actually what I was thinking, making it longer. I have lots of yarn. Not necessarily for a boat neck, but longer would be good, and that's a great idea for binding off shoulders together. THANK YOU!
