I'm going to attempt

To knit myself "Iced" The pattern is found at Knitty.com For the life of me I can't get a picture to load. Here is a link to it

May I Suggest...

Eileen from Knitty.

Oblique from Knitty.

Amelia from Knitty.
Twist and Shout from Knitty.

Are you sensing a theme of sorts here?  Keep in mind these are only suggestions.  If you have already chosen a pattern, I can't wait to see it!  Personally, I'm still trying to make up my mind, although I am leaning toward Eileen in honour of my husband's grandmother.

Don't forget: CAST ON is tomorrow! Have you swatched yet??

If you don't find your name in the side bar, drop me a note and I will gladly add you so you may post updates.

Revving Up

March 1st, and therefore our start date for this year's March Sweater Madness, is only a few short days away.  Yay!

For those that have never participated, the deal is to knit an adult-sized sweater in the month of March, start to finish.  It's very exciting.  Not as stressful as the Knitting Olympics since there are 31 full days to work your magic with some yarn and needles.

Here is a link to how it all started, way back when in 2007, by our fearless leader Michelle of The Sweet Sheep!  Can you believe it will be the 7th year for March Sweater Madness?  Although it all started with Michelle selecting a couple sweater patterns for participants to choose from, over the years we've made suggestions to point people in a unique direction and perhaps even provide a bit of a challenge.  Somewhere along the line this challenge evolved into a stash busting exercise and so we would start by selecting our yarns first, followed by a pattern search.  I would invite you to skim through our archives for the good, the bad, and the ugly of our combined efforts over the years.

On March 1st we will all CAST ON and it will be a race to the finish! The Knitter who is first will win a pretty awesome prize provided by yours truly! So, go stash diving or visit your LYS now.

For my part I will do a pattern reveal over the next day or two, which you can choose to knit or pick one of your own.  Suggestions welcome.  Free patterns are always preferred.

Please share on your blogs, Facebook, website... The more the better.

Done!

Actually, it's been done for a while but I've been lazy about posting.  The colours are not quite true in this photo but it's as good as it gets.  It fits, which is important, however, it's way too hot here to model a high-necked sweater!  My daughter has been after it, so if it has her seal of approval, it's can't be too shabby.  I did make one mistake in the centre cable but for now have talked myself out of fixing it.  Can you find it?  Would you bother fixing it?  Enquiring mind wants to know.
For the record, it also hasn't been washed/soaked/blocked.  I am being kind of lazy about that too.

Anyone done yet?

Which obviously means that I am not. The cruise knitting went fairly well - I have only a small section of the second front to finish on my HF. So obviously the sweater has been sitting in my suitcase since the 16th of May. Since it is knit in one piece it just got too clumsy to haul around easily. Instead I have been knitting various assorted shawls. The first - well no sweat. Done, just needs blocking. I ran out of yarn for the second (three 50 gm skeins of sock yarn and a good 20 rows to go. Didn't really believe that it was going to actually take 800+ meters of fingering weight yarn). Which takes me to yet another on my needles. What was that about not starting up any new projects? Sooo busted. (and since I have been home less than 24 since 18 April there has been zero progress on the March Madness sweater.....

Still At It

I was hoping to be nearing the finish line finally. Nope, not going to happen for some time yet.
The sleeves from hell are winning. I almost had the second sleeve done last night (knit night), until I laid one over the other and noticed that I messed up the shaping. I probably have to rip out close to three inches. Geez, if plain ribbing is giving me this much grief, what can I expect when I go back to knitting the front? It's almost as if I've never knit before.

Just a bit disgruntled. How are the rest of you making out?
